During his TEDx appearance, he talks about the path he took from stuttering to being a public speaking coach. Datastorytelling - how to build compelling stories using data?
Data speaks for itself - we are persuaded by international business portals, corporations or institutions. The problem is that when we enter large organizations, we will hear a great deal of data that... is simply recited and from which little is understood. There we will see managers or management who, yes, listen to the data but understand little of it and certainly don't know why they are listening to it all. On the other hand, we will see people who present this data and would like to be understood, but having access to a huge amount of data and not knowing what will be important to the audience - they communicate everything just in case. This is not effective business communication but could be if only the presenters had the right way of discussing this data. A way that is tailored to the audience. A way that shows the relationships in this data. Finally, a way by which presenters are able to convey their point of view or recommendations for action based on the data, while keeping the audience's attention at the highest level. That's what datastorytelling is. And in this talk, I present four steps to go through to move from communicating data to presenting data-driven stories.
"Data Storytelling in business presentation”
Day I (8h)
Build a data-driven presentation structure
Effective data visualization in presentations and reports
|
Day II (8h)
Storytelling in data presentation
Data narration in business reports and presentations
Final presentations Participants are given the opportunity to develop the final presentation (individually or in a team) and then present it. The presentation is followed by a feedback session.
